4 semesters of Yiddish language and culture (October 2013 – June 2015, Wroclaw). The pursuit of knowledge about Yiddish is often linked with the search for family roots or with the use of Yiddish as the source of artistic inspiration. Some reach for Yiddish literature to better understand the imprint of Jewish civilization on Polish culture. Our goal is to offer a two-year language course as a foundation for a closer acquaintance with the richness of Yiddish. Course taught by Dr. Joanna Lisek, a literary historian and lecturer at the Jewish Studies Department of Wroclaw University. Weekly classes will include meetings with noted international Yiddishists as well as guest native speakers.

Project supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants and co-financed by the Polish funds.
